This Privacy Policy explains what information BodyBud collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. BodyBud is a personal workout, nutrition, and weight tracking application. We built it to keep your data private to you, and this policy describes how we honor that.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Identity information. BodyBud uses Google Identity-Aware Proxy (IAP) to authenticate you. We receive your verified email address from Google to identify your account; we do not receive or store your Google password.
- Content you provide. Workouts, custom exercises, muscle group definitions, nutrition entries (meal descriptions, calories, and macros), and weight entries that you log in the app.
- Locally stored preferences. Some settings — such as your daily nutrition targets and your chosen home page — are stored only in your browser's local storage and are never transmitted to our servers.
- Usage and diagnostic data. Basic request logs (such as the page or API route accessed and timestamp) used to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the Service.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information described above to:
- Authenticate you and keep your data isolated to your own account;
- Operate the Service's core features — logging workouts, computing muscle load, charting exercise progress, tracking nutrition against your targets, and graphing weight trends;
- Maintain, secure, and troubleshoot the Service;
- Communicate with you about material changes to the Service or these policies, if needed.
We do not use your workout, nutrition, or weight data for advertising, and we do not sell your personal information to third parties.
3. How Your Data Is Stored
Each account's data is kept in its own isolated, per-user data store on our servers, keyed to your verified identity. Data you enter is not visible to other BodyBud users. We apply reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, but no method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
4. Cookies and Local Storage
BodyBud does not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies. The app uses your browser's local storage to remember a small amount of information on your device — such as your nutrition targets and preferred home page — purely to improve your experience. This data stays on your device and is not sent to our servers unless you explicitly re-enter it through a feature that syncs with your account.
5. Sharing of Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information only in the following limited circumstances: with service providers who help us host and operate the Service (bound by confidentiality obligations), if required to comply with applicable law or a valid legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of BodyBud, our users, or the public.
6. Data Retention and Deletion
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active so the Service can function (for example, so historical charts and trends remain accurate). You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us using the details in Section 9; we will delete your data within a reasonable time, except where we are required to retain certain information to comply with legal obligations.
7. Children's Privacy
BodyBud is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the Service or for legal or operational reasons. We will update the "Last updated" date above when we do. If changes are material, we will make reasonable efforts to provide more prominent notice.
